My fiancée and I had the trip of a lifetime in Nepal with Norsang Lama as our guide and Prakash as our porter in the beginning of February 2018. We had been traveling around Southeast Asia and knew we wanted to come and do a trek in Nepal, but I wasn’t sure where to start. I started doing an insane amount of research, sending lots of emails, and I found High Camp Trekking. SO GLAD I DID! Norsang responded to my email right away with a great price, great itinerary, and clearly a lot of knowledge. I was nervous about actually booking a trip, but he made it easy to take the plunge! He sent us the itinerary, costs, list of equipment that we would need, and ways for us to get in shape for the trek. I felt very secure and confident going into it because he made me feel like I could do it, even with little trekking experience. We did the Pikey Peak Cultural trek, which was 7 days (9 days including transportation) and it was perfect for my skill level (actually quite a bit challenging for me!). The peak is at 4067m so the altitude affected me a tad, but Norsang was there to help guide us and keep us feeling healthy and safe. We even got to see Everest which was definitely a highlight!! Before we started trekking, he got us situated in the hotel, went over all the details, and he even took us to the monkey temple to teach us about Buddhism and other aspects of Nepalese culture (which he did throughout the trek as well). Also, when we got back to Kathmandu, he brought us to his home for lunch which was a perfect and generous way to end the trip. His encouragement and patience throughout the whole process was amazing and I would recommend him to anyone! My fiancée and I plan on coming back and doing another trek with him someday! Thank you for everything!
I am a terrible review writer so this will be short and sweet.
I Decided on a solo trip to Nepal during monsoon sesaon to do the Annapurna Circuit. Norsang and Samden from High Camp Trekking are the most wonderful and accommodating people i could have hoped to trek with.
Their knowledge, empathy, safety considerations and willingness to understand the trekkers needs is second to none.
If I could rate them 100 stars I would.
I will be returning to trek them again hopefully sooner rather than later.
Thank you Norsang and Samden and hope to see you soon!
We had a wonderful time in Nepal with Norsang Lama as a guide and Biren as a porter in the first week of November 2017. Initially we were supposed to go to Everest side and because of bad weather conditions we couldn’t fly to Lukla. Since our timing was tight, he offered to do an alternative trek in the Annapurna: Mardi Himal. He organized everything in few hours and we were able to depart to Pokhara the day after. During all the trek, Norsang made sure that we had a room in all the tea house, adjusted the pace to ours, took care of us and shared his 20 years experience of the mountain and his knowledge of Nepal with us. We particularly appreciated that he adjusted the program on the spot. Since we could finish a bit earlier the Mardi Himal trek, he added additional stay and visit in Pokhara : we could enjoy the stunning panoramic view from the uphill Stupa! So if you want to have an amazing experience in the Nepal mountains, do not hesitate to contact Norsang.
We completed Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek with Norsing Lama of High Camp Trekking, January 2017. This was our first proper trek and from the reviews we decided that we would meet up with Norsang and discuss trekking ABC, in mid winter. He was overly helpful from the get go. As we both live in Vietnam we didn’t own any proper trekking equipment and essential items (apart from boots which we had previously warn in). He sat down and went through in great detail the daily itinerary and wrote us an extensive list of what we should purchase on the trek. He filled us with great confidence due to his depth of knowledge, fluent English ability and amazing personality. Follow his advice and buy every thing he suggests as we ended up using every thing on the list. The trek was 9 days in total and 2 days travel. We found parts of the trek challenging due to the weather (ice and snow) and steep up downs, and the fact you would be trekking between 5-8 hours per day (we were slow trekkers). This hard work paid off. The landscapes, nature and scenery were phenomenal and words can’t describe how beautiful and enormous the mountains were. The trek covered many different terrains including jungle, tea terraces, valleys and mountain passes. It was so beautiful and there is no way you can’t love this trek. The tea houses are basic but offer a good variety of food. Most teahouses offered comfy enough beds and after a full day trekking we fell to sleep very early every night. Norsang was incredible the entire trek. He speaks in fluent English with a clear accent. He taught us so much about the mountains, local and national culture and politics as well as lots of very interesting information about the trek. Without his knowledge it would of been no where near as enjoyable. He does everything he can to make trek as rewarding as possible. He is a very patient person and allowed us excessive breaks. By the end of the trek he has become a friend. I can’t emphasise enough how amazing Norsang was at guiding us through the ABC trek. I wish him all the best for the future and hope that many more people get to experience what we did.
