I also used Norsang for my trek this March 2010. This was the first time I had used a guide or even been to Nepal and I must admit I was nervous about handing over a pile of cash to some total stranger! But, both Norsang and the porter he uses (Karma) were fantastic… they took care of all my needs, they are especially friendly and taught me a lot about the local culture – even how to play some of the various card games they all played.
We completed Gokyo Ri, Cho La Pass, Kalapattar and EBC. This was a difficult trek for me as four days before flying out to Kathmandu I was back in hospital with a knee problem having injections etc – I couldn’t even walk around the local park at that stage. They created a bespoke itinerary to take account of his and showed great patience with me and we had many laughs together.
They made the trek possible and ensured I had a fantastic time. Again a big thanks to them both. Norsang, His brother and father run a typical small but high quality business together.
If anyone requires any more information then feel free to send me a DM.

Hi everyone,
I recently hiked the Annapurna Circuit with a great guide, Norsang Lama. I was a solo traveler, and it was because of him that my trip was so incredible. He was extremely friendly with both me and the locals, many of whom he knew already, his memory was like an almanac, and he treated me like a king –he made sure I would get my tea first! His English is great, he’s very professional at what he does, and he puts YOU first.
We had the pleasure of having Norsang as our guide during our recent trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) in March 2008; there were 6 of us (Barb Repcen, Heather Steen, Melanie, Nikki, Jeanette Waters and Christopher Hurren) in the group. Having a guide and being part of a larger group was ideal; we were able to change the route to suit requests.
Norsang was very professional, organized and throughout the trek, every day ran smoothly. Norsang was very tuned into our needs and any limitations we had. He is very personable and has a very cheersfull personality. Norsang and the porters had a vast knowledge of the trekking route and the mountains and they were very willing to share it. When we returned to Pokhara and Kathmandu Norsang continued to guide us around the tourist areas and shared his love of Nepal with us. We got to see a lot more of the culture and sights of Nepal than we would have been able to see if we were on our own. Really with Norsang nothing is too much trouble he is really a very genuine and like bale guy. Some of us intend to return to Nepal and do another trek with Norsang we all look forward to seeing him again.
I am happy for anyone to contact me if they need a reference for Norsang on addresses:
Norsang was our guide on a trekking holidays in Khumbu (Everest Region), Nepal for 17 days from 6 October to 22 October 2007. I was part of a small group of 3 people from New Zealand.
I would highly recommend Norsang to anyone considering a trekking adventure in Nepal. We found him to be a very competent, friendly young man who took his responsibilities for client welfare seriously, making sure we acclimatized to the altitude safely.
With Norsang we were able to plan our itinerary and cover all the attractions we wished to visit in the Everest region, including Thame, Gokyo Ri 5357m, Cho La Pass 5368m, Everest Base Camp 5364m, Kala Pattar 5545m. A flexible itinerary allowed us to make up a day so we were also able to trek up the beautiful valley Chhukung, climb Chukung Ri 5550m and trek to Island Peak Base Camp. Norsang speaks English well. He has a wide knowledge of the mountains and the culture of the Sherpa people and always willing to answer our many questions. I noticed that he was held in high regard by the Lodge managers, whom he knew well and he always planned ahead to ensure we had accommodation.
Norsang employed two porters (Pasang and Karma Sherpa) for us, two men he uses regularly that he knew to be reliable. He ensured his porters were well accommodated.
Please contact me if you wish to discuss Norsang’s suitability to guide your trip or to find out more about our trek.
