The Manaslu expedition is Nepal’s third most popular eight-thousander mountaineering activity, behind Everest and Lhotse.  The mountain formerly known as Pung Gyen and Kutang I is now called Manaslu, and it is 8,163 meters high. The name “Manaslu” comes from the Sanskrit word “Manasa,” meaning “Mountain of the Spirit.” As the eighth tallest peak in the world, Manaslu is located in the Mansiri Himal range of Nepal and is notably accessible, with the expedition base camp just a day’s trek from the nearest village, Samagaon, on the Manaslu Circuit Trek.

There are six different climbing routes of mountain Manaslu. Toshio Imanishi (Japan) and Gyalzen Norbu (Sherpa) made the first successful ascent of Manaslu via the North Side on the 9th of May 1956. We run the expedition via the most common climbing route on the northeast side. Besides Base Camp (4800m), there requires Camp I (5700m), II (6400m), III (6800m), and IV (7500m) on the ascent en route. The total climbing route length is 12.2km from the base camp. The mountaineering guide or high-altitude crews supply rope, tents, food, fuel, and Oxygen higher up.

The expedition requires establishing four camps above the base camp. We are well-equipped for the base camp and logistical support for higher-altitude operations. Additionally, we will bring a petrol generator to the base camp to provide power. The cook (chef) prepares fresh and hot meals at the base camp.

After obtaining the Manaslu expedition permits, we drive through Dhading to reach Machha Khola, Gorkha district, about 138km by jeep. From here, we trek through the Budhi Gandaki valley, experiencing the Buddhist culture before we reach the Manaslu Base Camp. We do an acclimatization rotation sleep between Base Camp and Camp III before the final push to the summit of Manaslu (8163m).

Day to day itinerary:

We take good care of guests from arrival to departure at Kathmandu Airport. Please check the cardboard of High Camp Trekking upon arrival at the Airport. Our company representative will help you transfer to the Hotel in Thamel (tourist center).

All include:- Airport pickups and bed and breakfast.
We give a briefing about the Everest trek and climbing expedition preparation. You can also buy the necessary equipment in Kathmandu.

All include:- a bed and breakfast.
Leaving Kathmandu, we travel on the Prithivi Highway for a couple of hours before we turn to Dhading. When we travel from Dhading toward Arughat, Gorkha, the road is rough and dirty through rural and remote areas. But, the views of Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Langtang range make up for the discomfort. After Arughat, we travel to Soti Khola through a pretty rugged road. We travel from Kathmandu to Soti Khola by private jeep (4W) because the road condition is poor in most of the sections.

All include:- breakfast, lunch, dinner, and accommodation at the lodge.
Leaving Machha Khola (Fish in River), the trail is through an under-construction road toward Khorlabesi. We come to cross many waterfalls en route. We take a quick break at Tatopani, which is a hot spring at the entrance of the village. From here, we walk through a short forest path to reach Dobhan, which is a good lunch spot. Then, we head north to Shyauli. From here, the trail goes a few uphill sections and downs until we drop at Yaruphant. We cross a suspension bridge, climb over a ridge, trek along the river, and climb to reach the village of Jagat.  Here, we enter the Manaslu Conservation Area.

All include:- breakfast, lunch, dinner, and accommodation at the lodge.
After the hiking passes were checked, we climbed over a rocky ridge to reach Salleri and then descended to Sirdibas and Ghate Khola. We see many waterfalls and Shringi Himal from en route. We descend to the river, cross the longest suspension bridge, and then climb up through the pine forest to reach the village of Philim. It is the largest Gurung village where we take lunch. From here, we walk through millet fields to reach Ekle Bhatti (teashop). We descend to the bridge, where the trail splits to the right side of the remote Tsum Valley trek for a week. But we cross to the left and walk along the Budhi Gandaki River to enter the uninhabited gorge. After crossing the river twice, we climb through a bamboo forest to reach Deng. It is a tiny village, but it has a nice lodge.

All include:- breakfast, lunch, dinner, and accommodation at the lodge.
This day, we pass through the small settlements of Rana, Bhi Phedi, and an impressive valley. We come to cross Mani Walls (Buddhist mantra carving on the stone) before we reach the village of Ghap, which is a good lunch spot. We walk through a dense forest of fir, rhododendron, bamboo, and oaks and cross the bridge three times to reach Namrung. It is a solid Tibetan influence village. We take a tour of the town in the late afternoon.

All include:- breakfast, lunch, dinner, and accommodation at the lodge.
Leaving the village of Namrung, we walk through a wider valley and forest to reach the picturesque village of Lihi, where we see several Stupas, barley, and millet fields. We see Simnang Himal and Ganesh Himal from en-route. Then, we descend to the river and gradually uphill lead us to the Tibetan village, Sho. Today’s walk is even more cultural and scenic when we pass through the villages of Lho and Shyala to reach Sama Gaon. There are monasteries to visit and Manaslu Massif and Larkya Peak to see from en route. We are going to stay two nights at Sama Gaon for better acclimatization.

All include:- breakfast, lunch, dinner, and accommodation at the lodge.
After breakfast, we hike up to the old monastery – Pungyen Gomba, which has splendid views of glaciers on the backdrop. We might see the Himalayan Thar (wild goat) en route. Then, we come back to the lodge for the lunch. We do a tour of the village in the afternoon.

All include:- breakfast, lunch, dinner, and accommodation at the lodge.
Leaving Sama Goan, we make a side trip to Birendra Lake. It is a glacier Lake. From here, we descend to the Kermo Kharka, which is the yak pastures, and walk through juniper and birch forest upward to Kermo Khola to reach Manaslu Base Camp.

All include:- breakfast, lunch, dinner, and accommodation at the tent.
We have a puja (Buddhist ceremony) at MBC led by a local Lama before the start of the climbing expedition.

All include:- breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and accommodation at the tent.

We do an acclimatization rotation between MBC to Camp III and then the final push to the summit of Manaslu I (8163m) during this period.
