The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek route is one of the most popular treks in the Annapurna region. The walk starts at Ulleri, and the trail goes through villages, paddy rice fields, Rhododendron trees, and different landscapes with views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
We do this trek combined three highlights Poon Hill, Annapurna Base Camp, and Jhinu Hot Spring. Poon Hill is a famous viewpoint with Sunrise views on the panoramic Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Annapurna Base Camp has a 360-degree view of the towering Annapurna range between 6000m to 8091m peaks. It lies in the heart of the Annapurna range. We head to Jhinu Hot Spring on the bank of the Modi River and enjoy the natural hot spring bath.
Annapurna Sanctuary is also known as the Annapurna’s South Base Camp Trek. In spring (March to May), rhododendron flowers bloom colorfully at elevations from 1400m to 3300m en route. Machhapuchhare (Fishtail 6993m) is the most attractive mountain and the trekker’s favorite mountain in the Himalayas of Nepal.
Langurs (monkeys) can be seen around Tadapani and Modi Khola Valley between Sinuwa and Doban. Domestic animals are also encountered on the trail. Many types of birds sing en route early in the morning and evening. The locals’ daily activity can be seen in the Ulleri, Chhumrung, Sinuwa, Landruk, and Dhampus villages.
There are a few avalanche sections between the Himalayas and Machhapuchhare Base Camp. We do have the latest information on trial conditions. From January to March, ABC experiences fresh snow encounters.
1952, the French expedition successfully climbed Mount Annapurna I (8091m) on the North route. Annapurna I was the first eight thousand to climb successfully. The South route is well known for the difficulty and danger involved in its ascent than the North.
The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek has several different trailheads and ending points. It takes 8 to 12 days to complete. We end the trek at Dhampus Phedi. From Phedi, we travel to Pokhara by taxi or bus. Pokhara is the second largest city in Nepal, and we can spend a couple of days relaxing there. In the end, we travel from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus.
